Meet The Founder

Yan was born and raised in Habana, Cuba.  Yan came to the United States (US) in 2003 at the age of 20 after graduating from High School in his native country.  Shortly after arriving to the US, Yan enrolled in Miami Dade College (MDC), Wolfson Campus, where he began his journey to learn a new language and pursue a degree in accounting.  

Yan graduated from MDC in 2006 with an Associate of Arts Degree and was accepted into the Accounting Program at Florida International University (FIU).  Yan completed a Bachelors in Accounting in 2007 and a Master in Taxation in 2010, both from FIU.  He also became a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 2010. 

Prior to founding Valdes CPA & Advisors in 2018, Yan spent 10 years in public accounting working for national and local CPA firms such as CBIZ MHM, KPMG and H&CO.  Yan is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA),  Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), and Miami Realtors Association.

Yan holds an active CPA License and Real Estate Sales Associate License, both with the State of Florida.  Yan is also an IRS Certifying Acceptance Agent.  During his free time, Yan likes to spend time with his family and travel around the world.
